When Chuquicamata needed the world’s strongest belt system replaced in Chile’s Atacama Desert, the challenge called for specialist capability and proven execution. M Squared Engineering brought the engineering leadership and on-site expertise to get it done. Since 2023, we’ve built our reputation on tackling technically demanding conveyor projects with innovative design and real-world expertise.
Founded by Scott Marvelley after 25 years leading some of the mining industry’s most complex conveyor projects globally, M Squared exists to fill a niche space in the mining and material handling market that larger organisations find difficult. We combine the specialised expertise of multinational contractors with the agility and accountability only an independent specialist can provide. This means faster decision-making, senior-led projects, and complete engineering solutions that integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems without the constraints that slow down larger firms.

Scott Marvelley,
Founder & Principal Engineer
With over 25 years of experience in conveyor and mechatronics engineering, Scott provides strategic direction and hands-on technical leadership for all M Squared projects. His extensive background includes global leadership positions at Continental (formerly Veyance Technologies/Goodyear), where he served as Global Director of Services Engineering, managing complex conveyor installations and equipment design projects across mining operations worldwide including Rio Tinto, BHP, Glencore, Fortescue Metals Group, and Vale. Recognised for pioneering innovative belt handling methodologies and equipment design, Scott’s unique combination of design expertise and field implementation experience, including work on the world’s longest and strongest conveyor belt systems, allows him to develop innovative solutions that work in the most demanding real-world conditions.
